New Zealand Football believes as the custodians of futsal we have a responsibility to guide and nurture the community through a process to explore more and better opportunities within our game. Senior Secondary Schools present an unprecedented opportunity to entice and educate year 11-13 students to coach, play, organise and officiate, the game of futsal whilst being recognised with the prospect of earning NCEA achievement standards.
New Zealand Football has engaged with teachers, students, educational consultants and the community to develop a series of programmes that meet the physical and cognitive needs of the children in Primary, Intermediate and Senior Secondary Schools environment using futsal as the vehicle.
Aligned with “The New Zealand Curriculum” the NZF Futsal in Schools – Senior Secondary programme will produce more confident, connected, and actively involved lifelong learners. It is our intention that this programme will ensure that students are given every opportunity to critically think, act and reflect on their thoughts feelings and behaviours. The students involvement in this programme will make a significant contribution to their own and others well being, both in and out of the classroom. Futsal is embedded in its own contextual nuances promoting guided discovery and encouraging flair. We feel that this programme will promote a humanistic/ student centred approach to developing youth.
Your school, physical education department and students will be offered considerable support from our regional development officers. Their sport specific knowledge will guarantee that your students and staff will have every opportunity to learn more about one of the world’s fastest growing sports.
The skills the students will learn from any of the achievement standards will hold them in good stead for their future and for the betterment of the community.
